August shout-out goes to senior, Abhiram Allugubelli!

Abhi graduated as a senior from Rock Ridge High School and Academies of Loudoun and is attending Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) with a Dean’s Merit Scholarship, and plans to earn a degree in Biomedical Engineering on a pre-med track with the goal of making it to medical school.

Abhi started playing basketball when he was 5 years old. He has been training with Hoops the Right Way since he was 14 and competed with the development teams at many levels. Hoops helped Abhi to master his fundamental basketball skills and improve himself in various fields such as shooting, basketball IQ, and teamwork.

Abhi was part of the Rock Ridge Basketball program throughout his high school career and plans to play for club basketball team at VCU and explore other basketball opportunities.

Abhi has excelled on and off the court, choosing advanced and challenging classes which led him to be chosen for National Honor Society Member. Abhi also enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities such as volunteering at clinics and INOVA hospital. He also enjoyed coaching the younger generation of players and helped volunteering in many Hoops summer camps, while working part time at UPS.

A message from Abhi, “ I would like personally thank Coach Ken and Coach Mike for putting in the time and effort to make us great players and better people, we received so many life lessons and truly enjoyed the moments. This wouldn’t happened without you guys.”  “Coach Ken has been a great mentor and has been a positive influence to me. He always went an extra mile to tap my potential and I will ever be grateful”.

We are so proud of you, Abhi!
